Shoppers Can Save Money by Buying When Prices Drop; Free Web Service Helps

A free website that has saved its members over $1,000,000 launches new features that track falling prices on products consumers want

NEW YORK, July 2, 2008 -- Everything is more expensive this summer, and shoppers are feeling the heat.

PriceProtectr.com, a service that calls itself a shopping "companion" website, is helping keep shoppers cool with new, money-saving features. Price Protectr already helps consumers track the prices of items they've recently bought to take advantage of price protection policies. Now they've launched services that track the prices of items before they buy.

"With the economy stumbling, now we want to help people save money before and after they shop," said James Wallace, CEO of PriceProtectr.com.

Today, PriceProtectr announced four free new features to help shoppers save. Price Watching, Price Targeting, and e-mails featuring the "Price Drop of the Day" and "Deal Alerts" could mean hundreds in savings.

Explained Dave Cohen, Chief Technology Officer, of the site, "Price Watching and Targeting are great new features that show how prices change daily, even hourly."

A visitor to the site can submit a product for Price Watching, and the service will track the price for up to 90 days. The site will send an e-mail when the price changes, and you can even set a price target to get an e-mail when the price drops below a price you're willing to pay.

The Price Drop of the Day gives anyone who signs up a daily e-mail alert of the biggest price drops of the last 24 hours by dollar amount and by percentage, sometimes exceeding 50% off everything from clothing to DVDs to electronics and more.

"We get our Price Drop of the Day e-mails every day, and I can't tell you how many times I've seen an $800 price drop on a $2,000 HDTV," said Tim Tonella, PriceProtectr's President. "And if someone wants an e-mail on price drops for only certain products, they can sign up for a Deal Alert based on a keyword they enter. These days it's not just about knowing what to buy, but when to buy. And Price Protectr is the best and most reliable at helping with that."

After the user protects a product at PriceProtectr.com, the site sends the user an e-mail if the price goes down, and detailed instructions on how to get a rebate from the retailer. PriceProtectr.com covers more retailers than any other price protection website -- over 120 including Amazon, Best Buy, Sears, Circuit City, Staples, The Gap, and The Apple Store.

"We've notified actual users of more than $1,200,000 in potential savings," said Wallace.

Operating out of New York and California, PriceProtectr LLC is the world's top destination for price drop notification, recently surpassing $22,000,000 in purchases protected. Last year, shoppers may have saved over $1.2 billion had they used its price alert services.
