Press Release
INTELECOM Launches on iTunes U
PASADENA, Calif., July 2, 2008 -- Educators, students and
lifelong learners alike can now access free content from
INTELECOM Intelligent Telecommunications, as INTELECOM joins
a growing number of educational institutions and content
providers on iTunes U (http://www.apple.com/itunesu/).
Since May 2007 Apple (http://www.apple.com) has been
offering post-secondary institutions a portal on its popular
iTunes Store (http://www.apple.com/itunes/store/), called
iTunes U, for publishing audio and video lectures. Files can
be downloaded for free to a PC or Mac, and later transferred
to a mobile device such as an iPod. Apple also provides
institutions with an administrative backend for uploading
content and templates for building their own iTunes U sites.
Visitors to INTELECOM on iTunes U can download a short video
clip about global warming and its impact on sea level, a
full-length video on nutrition, or an entertaining drama
that teaches English as a Second Language. Future content
offerings will include study guides, audio clips, and
engaging interviews with noted scholars and academicians on
a range of topics.
"We're very excited to be able to showcase some of our
educational content on iTunes U," says Cameron Cox, Vice
President of Marketing and Member Services at INTELECOM.
"For decades INTELECOM has been a leader in the development
of instructional media for distance learning. We see iTunes
U as an excellent example of technology in support of
lifelong learning and a natural extension of our core
mission of making education available anytime and anywhere."
"As INTELECOM joins other content providers in making the
leap to online delivery, we look forward to offering a rich
assortment of our instructional material to a new audience
of users via iTunes U," adds INTELECOM President Glenn
Kammen. "Given the quality of INTELECOM content and the
highly intuitive iTunes user interface, we're confident that
the user experience will be exceptional."
